Toys that go fast deserve coverage that keeps up.
The boat on Georgian Bay. The sled for the Haliburton trails. The ATV at the cottage. Recreational machines live where the fun is — which is exactly where standard policies stop covering them. I insure the toys properly, so the fun stays fun.
Your home policy covers the canoe. Not the 150HP outboard.
Home policies include a little bit of watercraft coverage — small boats, small motors, big limitations. The moment there's real horsepower, real speed, or real value involved, you need a dedicated marine or recreational policy.
Same story for sleds and ATVs: liability on the trails, physical damage when the machine meets a tree, and agreed-value settlement so a total loss pays what the machine's actually worth — not a depreciated surprise.
What's covered
Every risk is different, so every policy is built — not pulled off a shelf. Here's what a recreational program typically includes:
Boat & marine
Hull, motor, and trailer — with liability on the water sized for what a bad day afloat can cost.
ATV & snowmobile
Liability for the trails plus physical damage, including agreed-value options.
Agreed value settlement
Lock in the payout value up front — no depreciation arguments after a total loss.
Liability
$1M–$2M for injuries and damage your machine causes, on water or land.
Towing & salvage
On-water towing and wreck removal — the marine claim everyone forgets until the tow bill arrives.
Bundle everything
Boat + sled + cottage + home + auto with one broker who sees the whole toy box.

Recreational insurance for Ontario's playgrounds
Georgian Bay boaters, Haliburton and Muskoka snowmobilers, Kawartha ATV riders — I insure recreational machines across Ontario for GTA-based owners. Tell me what you've got and where it goes; I'll make sure the coverage follows it there.
Questions, answered
Is my boat covered under my home insurance?
Partially at best — small boats with small motors, with low limits. Anything with real horsepower or value needs its own marine policy. I'll check your boat against your home policy's limits honestly.
What does 'agreed value' mean?
You and the insurer agree on the machine's value when the policy is written — and that's what a total loss pays. No depreciation debate after the fact.
Do I need a license to insure a snowmobile or ATV?
You need to operate them legally (licenses, trail permits where required), and insurers will ask. I'll walk you through what's needed — it's simpler than most people expect.
