Told no? That's where I start.
Claims history. A new venture. An operation nobody's template fits. A renewal quote that doubled for no reason. Hard-to-place doesn't mean uninsurable — it means the last broker stopped trying. I live for these files.
Every 'uninsurable' file has a story. I read the whole thing.
Most declined risks aren't actually declined — they're declined by three standard markets and then everyone assumes the answer is no. But there are 60+ insurers and MGAs in this country, and specialty markets exist specifically for the weird, the new, and the previously burned.
My job on a hard file is part detective, part translator: what actually happened, what's changed since, and which underwriter needs to hear it framed right. Then I shop it until someone says yes at a price you can live with.
What's covered
Every risk is different, so every policy is built — not pulled off a shelf. Here's what a specialty program typically includes:
High-risk auto & fleets
Convictions, claims history, new authorities — drivers and fleets standard markets won't touch.
Hard-to-place liability
Operations with unusual exposures, from events to niche manufacturing.
New ventures
No history doesn't mean no insurance — it means the file needs to be built right the first time.
Lapsed & cancelled policies
A gap in coverage isn't a life sentence. I'll get you back in the market cleanly.
US exposure
Cross-border operations that scare standard underwriters.
Tough renewals
Your renewal doubled and nobody can explain why? I'll re-shop it properly and find out what it's actually worth.
How it works
Ten minutes on the phone. What you run, what you own, what keeps you up at night. No forms, no phone trees.
I take your file to 60+ insurers and specialty markets through Aaxel and make them compete for your business.
Clear options, straight numbers, coverage that actually fits. You decide — I handle the paperwork.
Ontario's hard files, handled
Based in Mississauga, working across the GTA and Ontario — if your business got declined, non-renewed, or quoted something absurd, bring me the file before you accept it. The worst I'll say is that the quote you have is actually fair. The best I'll do is cut it in half.
Questions, answered
My renewal doubled. Is that just the market?
Sometimes — but often it's your insurer repricing your segment, not your risk. I re-shop tough renewals constantly and frequently find the increase was anything but inevitable.
I was cancelled for non-payment. Can I get insured again?
Yes. A lapse complicates things but doesn't end them. I'll position the file honestly to markets that write lapsed risks and get you back to standard terms as fast as possible.
What makes a risk 'hard-to-place'?
Claims frequency, unusual operations, new ventures, high-hazard classes, or just a broker who only tried three markets. Most of the time, the problem is the shopping, not the risk.
How do I get a quote?
